I’m a data visualisation editor and visual storyteller .
Based in 🇸🇬 Singapore, born and raised in 🇦🇺 Australia.
I am passionate about creating ✨unique data-driven and visual stories to be enjoyed by anyone and everywhere 🌐. I love 💖 working with and encouraging a team of data journalists, designers and developers to take their work to the next level.
I care about building a community of visual and data-driven storytellers. I’m currently serving on the board of directors for SND 2024-2025, and am a co-founder of the local Data Viz Society Singapore chapter. You’ll often see me giving talks and sharing articles about how we build our stories 🛠️.
I believe in compassionate, human-centered 📊 data visualisation and 🌸 visual storytelling.
I’ve covered many elections for Singapore, Malaysia and the US. I’ve been an integral part of building up a team of designers, developers and data/visual journalists who can collaborate and share knowledge with the whole newsroom - currently managing a team of 18+ diverse talents. I single handedly crafted our project workflows and built a new visual storyboarding tool using FigJam to help co-ordinate large multimedia projects with visual and non-visual teams.
I received my Bachelors degree from Griffith University, Australia in 2013 and completed my masters in June 2021 from the University of Girona, Spain. While I completed my Bachelors, I voluntarily worked on data projects for the Sydney Morning Herald from 2010 and also co-founded the local chapter of Hacks/Hackers Singapore in 2013.
A career highlight was winning the Singapore Press Club’s inaugural 🏆 Young Digital Journalist Award - Rising Star in 2022. I just made the cut-off of 35 years old!
In 2019, I received my first 🥈 Silver medal for my story page design portfolio at the SND Best of Digital Design competition and in 2023, received a 🥉 Bronze medal for my combination portfolio.

A talk in 2023 with Nabilah Said of Kontinentalist; Kuang Keng Kuek Ser of the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting and Aghnia Adzkia of BBC News as part of a panel on data storytelling organised by EB Impact.
I’ve done numerous talks over the years as I find them a wonderful space to share and invite people to comment on how we can improve. Here’s a few highlights!
In 2021, I spoke about streamgraphs and their origin for Jon Schwabish’s book One Chart At A Time.
In 2022, I was on a panel alongside Sara Chodosh from the New York Times Opinion desk and Monica Ulmanu from The Washington Post for the DataViz For Society conference in Barcelona, Spain.
Also in 2022, I gave a virtual talk in Spanish at the Infovis Conference held in Mexico.
In 2023, I co-hosted a data vis workshop for the particpants at N3 conference organised by AAJA with Pei Ying Loh from Kontinentalist and am planning another one in 2024!
